Now available in English for the very first time, Yom Tov Shel Rosh Hashanah: 5666, or Samech Vav, is a compilation of the Chassidic treatises by Rabbi Shalom Dovber Schneersohn, the fifth Rebbe of Chabad, from the year 5666 (1905-1906). This series of Chassidic essays are considered a fundamental work of Chabad mysticism. The Samech Vav series is one of the single largest works of Chabad Philosophy. The work is titled Yom Tov Shel Rosh Hashanah after the opening words of the first treatise. The work is also popularly referred to as Hemshech Samech Vav (“Samech Vav Series”).
The Samech Vav Series of discourse is one of the largest collections of its kind. The central theme in the series is the concept of Dirah Betachtonim, the process of “making the world a dwelling place for G-d.” In the Samech Vav Series, this idea is pronounced as the ultimate purpose of creation.
This is the first volume, which includes in it the first eight discourses.
